Neeraj Sahai


Mr. Sahai is a business leader in the financial services industry. As President of Standard & Poor’s Ratings (2014-2015) Mr. Sahai initiated the transformation of the business and improved margins by 25% in one year.

Before joining Standard & Poor’s Ratings, Mr. Sahai had a long and distinguished career with Citigroup in both New York and India. Mr. Sahai joined Citigroup as Relationship Manager, Corporate Bank/Financial Institutions in Mumbai/Chennai, India, in 1984, quickly progressed to positions of greater scope and responsibility, and established a reputation for driving financial results and for integrity and trustworthiness. Prior to leaving Citi he was Business Head of the Securities & Fund Services (2005 – 2013) a ~$3bn revenue business, spanning 60+ countries with ~ 3,000 clients and 15+ product lines.

He has served as a Board member for CRISIL, India’s largest rating agency during 2014 – 2015, for the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) during 2008 – 2013, and the International Securities Services Association (ISSA) until 2012. He was also a member of the Securities Steering Committee at the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication (SWIFT).

Mr. Sahai was elected by Global Custodian Magazine to its Custody Hall of Fame, and received several Citibank awards (Global Deal, Service Excellence, and Global Account Management System awards).

Mr. Sahai earned an MBA from Clarkson University, Potsdam, NY, where he was elected to Beta Gamma Sigma for scholastic excellence, an MA from the Delhi School of Economics and BA (Honors) from the University of Delhi. He also completed The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania’s Advanced Management Program.
